The forecast is for moderate to strong north to west winds, reaching gale force at exposed places in and south of Cook Strait, later backing to south-westerlies; se?/ rather rough south of Cape Egmont and off shore south of Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters, moderate to strong west to south-west winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with gale force at times in the southern portion and moderate to rough seas; weather cloudy and unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect, with scattered rain, fair and mild at first in' eastern districts, but soon becoming unsettled with some showers and cooiler temperatures.
