Egan, Deputy Minister of Immigration, refuted graft charges in connection with immigration permits before the committee of inquiry He stated that 3061 permits had been issued, and 2900 of these had . boon sponsored by members of Parliament. d?? S 0 for gain- Not 01,(5 officer of the Department had received one con . The Department had discovered an attempt to use bogus permits, but not one had passed the officers. The matter was placed in the hands of the mounted police, and one man was apprehended. They had received complaints m two instances where money was taken for permits.—(Australian I’ress Association.)
