CHEAPER PETROL.
THE CANTERBURY PROJECT COMMENTS IN SYDNEY SYDNEY, May 22. Whether motorists should import their own petrol, as is to be done by the Canterbury Automobile Association, is the subject of discussion in Sydney, but representative men disapprove. They argue that the price Of petrol is not unreasonable. The country charges merely have freight added, while the distributors work all hours every day of the week for the convenience of motorists. One prominent commercial man, Mr. Boyd Edkins, declared that the Canterbury experiment would not last long. Another, Mr Murdoch, M.L.C., opined that Canterbhry must be getting cheap Mexican spirit.—(P.A.).
