PROTEST AND REPLY.
EMPLOYMENT AT HOUSE » FACTORY HAMILTON, May 22. Replying to Mr W. L. Martin, MLP. ’s protest against the dismissal of employees from the Frankton house factory, the Prime Minister has telegraphed: "The Government is making every possible effort to absorb the men. thrown out of employment on account of lack of work at the house factory. Special steps are being taken at the present to find work, particularly for the married men.” Mr. Martin, in a statement to the Press, says that thousands of pounds have been sunk in the house factory, and it is an economic waste to allow this money to lie idle.
