C.E.M.S. CONFERENCE.

PROCESSION OF WITNESS. SERMON- BY BISHOP OF WELLINGTON. Tho Diocesan Conference of the Church of En'gland Men’s Society, heldin Masterton yesterday, the day proceedings of which are reported on page seven, concluded last evening with a Procession of Witness and evening service.

The Procession of Witness was headed by the Municipal Band, followed by Boy Scouts, members of the various choirs., laymen and the visiting clergy, including the Lord Bishop of the Diocese. Mr. W. Nash spoke in the northern vart of Queen Street,- the Rev. W. Stent at Jackson Street, and the Rev. T. Fielden Taylor at the Post Office. Canon Taylor stated that it was an unusual procedure to hold a public witness, but in doing so he felt that the Christian man was a better, happier, and more useful man. The Rev. J. H. Datson acted as marshal of the procession and the Rev. W. Bullock gave out the hymns at the various stands, The Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) preached a sermon at the service held in St. Matthew’s Church after the procession, the subject being “The Decay of Civilisation.”
