LICENSING BILL.

UNDER CABINET OVERHAUL. MR. COATES'S “HOPE." • ' M (“The Age" Special—By Telegraph). WELLINGTON, August 11.—An inquiry by Mr H. V. Potter (Roskill) by way of an urgent question in the House to-day failed to extract any fresh information from the Prime Minister regarding the proposed Licensing Bill. Mr Coates’s answer, delivered with a smile which soon communicated itself to the faces of members, was this: “I would like to inform the hon. gentleman that the Licensing Bill is before Cabinet at the moment and is receiving earnest consideration. The Bill is drafted and possibly it will be amended before it comes before the Heuse. When it does I hope it will be acceptable without discussion to all sides of the House. (Laughter).
