AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
WAIRARAPA SUB-CENTRE. A meeting of the Wairarapa SubCentre, N.Z.A.A.A., was held in Masterton laet evening, Mr W. G. Water-f-on presiding. Mr L. A. Tracy’s resignation « delegate on the Wellington Centre was accepted with regret, and Mr H. Bose (Wellington) was appointed to toe position. In connection with the Masterton Club’s protest against January 22 being allotted to the Poriiua Club for its annual sports meeting, it was decided to thank the Wellington Centre for its efforts on the Masterton Club’s behalf, and to express the hopte that the date would be given to Mastertoll exclusively in future years. The proposed increase in the guarantee for the American visits to Masterton from £4O to £5O was discussed, and it was decided to reaffirm the previous decision to guarantee the lesser amount. Mr W. A. O’Donnell was appointed handicapper for the American meeting. The arranging of a programme was left to the Executive with power to. act, with an instruction to limit the prize money to £5O. i It was decided to have the track surveyed, and a temporary fence erected round one side of the oval. An invitation scratch cycle race ie to be included in the American programme, and the pick of Wellington and Wairarapa riders are to be invited to compete. None but competitors Are to be admitted free to the ground. / Votes of sympathy were passed to Messrs Edmunds and Hartley (Alfrodton delegates) in the misfortune they had recently sustained, and to Mr J. Walker for sickness in his family. The Langdale Club was granted January 16 for their annual sports meeting. It was decided to urge the Welling- ' ton Centre to have J. McKenna’s application for reinstatement re-opened. An executive meeting will be held on Tuesday to draw up the American programme.
