WOODFUL MAKES CENTURY.

WELLINGTON, March fust test was continued in fine: weather on a good wicket. The attendance was 8000. Victoria continued their first innings and when the last wicket fell were 110 runs ahead. The batting in the first part of the innings was lifeless, but in the second half was much brighter. Woodful, who was top-scorer with 110 not out, gave a solid display. He used his feet wdl and his driving and cutting were crisp and clean. His partnership with Millar produced 89. Millar showed plenty of enterprise and scored freely off Mcßeath, who was New Zealand’s best bowler. Millar’s off driving was particularly fine. Ransford’s total included 8 fours. He also drove splendidly and played some pretty shots to fine leg. Willis was lively, but Ellis was very quiet. The New Zealand fielding was not up to that of the visitors and several chances were missed. Mcßeath was the best bowler. He kept a vary accurate length and broke to the off with a bigger break than most left-handers. Dickinson started very fast, but slowed down. Nevertheless, he deserved his four wickets.
