A RECORD ENTRY. ' THE COMPLETE DRAW. i (Received 8.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March IS—A record list of 25 teams has entered for the Davis Cup. The Ambassadors of most of the nations of the World forgathered at the IPan-American building, where VicePresident Dawes drew from the Davis Cup the names of the 25 challenging Nations. The complete draw is as follows: — American Zone. First round. —Cuba v. Spain. Second round.—Japan v. China; (Mexico v. winner of Cuba v. Spain; [Australia v. Hawaii; New Zealand v. Canada. n European Zone. First round.—Holland v. Czechoslovakia; Switzerland v. Sweden; Belgium v. India; Austria v. Ireland; Hungary v. France; Portugal v. Italy; Rumania v. Denmark; Poland v. England. The uneven number of challengers in the American zone necessitated that all the nations but two receive byes in the first round. The winner of the European and American zones challenge the United States. The Jubilee Competition. At the conclusion of the draw Mr Davis, donor of the cup, said the competition this year was surrounded by Unusual circumstances. It marked the 25th anniversary of the Cup competition and it was a coincidence that there are 25 nations challenging. This |was a new record in international tennis, the entr ybeing two greater than a year ago. Mr Davis said in 1900 there were only two entries. No other amateur sport competition with the exception of the Olympic games had ever attracted such world-wide interest. It was a splendid demonstration of the growth of tennis as an international pastime. Meetings on the courts were the means of developing better understandings of the personal sportsmanship ef the nations involved.
