At Woodville, H. T. Hume (Masterton) was fined £25 for failing ta comply with a notice to destroy rabbits on Aohanga station. The Magistrate (Mr 8. L. P. Free 8.M.), said that 15 days ’ poisoning had been done in 5 months on 18,000 acres. On the average the inspector had counted a rabbit every five minutes, and he ~ thought the place could fairly be described as infested. *The defendant stated that the rabbits on Mataikona could be numbered in thousands and Aould easily get across to Aohanga.

At the usual meeting of ’ the Manchester Unity Oddfellows Bro. R. Carter, P.G., presided over a good attendance. P.G. Sister M. Roff gave a report on the District Conference. District Grand Master Bro. A. Blair wrote thanking the Lodge for support during his term of office in minor District chairs, and eulogised the work of P.D.G.M. Bro. P. M. Smith, who had served the District and Unity with honour. The Lodge presented Bro. P. M. Smith with a Past District Grand Master’s collar in recognition or faithful services. Bro. J. E. Cane, P.G., was presented with a Past Officer’s emblem. Four new members were initiated and four friends proposed. P.G. Sister O. Rayner, of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge was accorded a hearty Lodge welcome. The Friendly Societies’ Dispensary notified the Lodge that after April 1 a fee of 1/ per prescription would be charged on all prescriptions dispensed to members. The share list is open, and it is hoped to raise £5OO worth of shares to enlarge the Dispensary business.
