WEDDINGS.

COOPER—FAFEITA. On March 11 at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Eketahuna, the marriage took place of Winifred, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Fafeita, Nireaha, to Kenneth Balfour, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Cooper, Makora road, Masterton. The Rev. Mr White officiated, and Mrs Moore presided at the organ.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was daintily attired in a frock of ivory French crepe-de-chino with an overdress of marionette handsomely beaded with pearls and crystal beads. She also wore a tulle veil and coronet of orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of white lilies, asters and maidenhair fern. Miss Dorothy Cooper (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Margaret Fafeita (sister of the bride) acted as bridesmaids and wore frocks’ of ivory crepe-de-chine trimmed with lace, and headbands of pale pink roses and gold leaves. Each wore a. gold armlet, the gift of the’ bridegroom, and carried a bouquet of bclla-donna lilies and maidenhair fern. The best man was Mr Norman Ohesterrnan, of Masterton. After the ceremony a reception was held at Kershaw's tearooms. The guests numbered about 60. Among them were Mr and Mrs W. Cooper (Masterton), Mr and Mrs Percy Cooper (Gladstone), Miss Cooper (Masterton), Mrs R. Cooper, Misses Chris, and Isabel Cooper, Mr J. Cooper (Gladstone), Mr and Mrs Peter Cooper, Miss Nancy Cooper (Gladstone), Miss Gladys Cooper (sister of the bridegroom), Mr Hugh and Mr W. Cooper (Masterton), Mr and Mrs I. Rutherford (Longbush), Mr Dougall Thompson, Mrs Smith and Miss Smith (Masterton), Mr M. Fafeita, Misses Dorothy and Merle Fafeita (Nireaha), Mr and Mrs C. Fafeita and Miss E. Fafeita (Newman), Mrs and Miss Butcher, and Mr David Butcher (Eketahuna), Mrs and Miss Voight, Mr and Mrs I. B. Mason, Mr and Mrs I. L. L. Mason (Nirea'ha), Mr and Mrs B. Lozell, Mr and Mrs Berg and Miss Grace Berg (Dannevirke), Miss Berg, aunt of the bride, (Wellington), and many others. The presents were numerous and costly. Later the happy couple left by car travelling north, the bride wearing a smart navy blue coat frock- beautifully embroidered, in oriental colours with a very becoming hat to match. St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston St. Andrew’s CChurch, Palmerston North, was the scene of a very pretty evening wßdding, when Miss Gertrude Isabelle Gillies, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. J. Gillies, of Palmerston North, was married to Mr Richard Francis Giddings, of Mount Bruce, Masterton. The church was packed with the friends of the happy couple. The Bev. G. T. Brown, M.A., officiated, and Mr A. J. Graham presided at the organ The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a sleeveless gown of white satin marocain, cut on classical lines. The gown fell straight from the shoulders, the right side being slightly draped, and held in place by a pearl and diamante buckle. Her train of white georgette was lined with palest pink satin and fell from the shoulders, and the tulle veil was banded with orange blossoms A bouquet of pink and .white flowers completed a very charming toilette. The bride was attended by four bridesmaids, Misses Myra Giddings, and Nancy, Mona and Jean Gillies. They wore similar frocks of pale pink satin, made, with long bodices with silver hair bands and carries bouquets of pink flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Charles Morcom (Eketahuna) as best man, and Mr Leslie Broadbelt as groomsman. After the ceremony, Mr and Mrs Gillies received the numerous guests at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Mrs Gillies being gowned in a frock of black georgette with white bands and black and White hat with ospreys. Mrs Giddings wore a dress of black satin marocain, with fur wrap The bride travelled in a fawn and black georgette frock, with rose velour hat and musquash coat, when the happy couple left for a honeymoon tour of the South Island in their car, a gift from the bridegroom’s father and mother. Amongst those present were: Mr and Mrs Giddings (Masterton), Mr and Mrs Wright (Masterton), Mr ail'd Mrs MeLauchlin (Masterton), Mr and Mrs E. Burr (Auckland), Mrs Buck (Wellington), Mrs Stratton (Wanganui), Mrs Bailey (Feilding), Mrs Avison (Hastings), Mrs Blain (Hastings), Miss Prendergast (Feilding), Mr Simmonds (Feilding).
