AMUSEMENTS.

.A LOUSE. .M DAUGHTER”— COMING. The dramatic intensity of life at sea in the day of the sailing vessel is the theme of the splendid Universal production which starts at the Opera House next Wednesday. The realism so obtained enhances the necessary atmosphere of the dramatic story unfolded by Priscilla Dean and the very capable company that supports her. Toni Santschi has the principal male role, and others in the company are Bert Roach, William B. Davidson, J. Farrel McDonald, Cyril Chadwick, Harry Mann, George Kuwa and Alfred Fisher. ”Tbe Storm Daughter” is a tale of the adventurous life led aboard ship in those days. Thrilling scenes too numerous to mention, follow each other in rapid succession and finally culminate in a spectacular climax, forming a picture that has been rated “the best in years.” COSY DE LUXE. ‘ ‘BREAKING POINT'TO-NIGHT. Showing again to-night after a successful opening on Saturday evening at the Cosy theatre is the excellent Paramount programme headed by the photoplay “The Breaking Point.” It contains an entertaining combination of Society, love, drama and murder mystery, with a dash of the scientific angle. The story involves the romance of a man who had lost his memory and the consequence of his reaching his past for a solution which claims a tense sequence of mystery. A well selected list of supporting films are also included in the programme. ETHEL OSBORN FAREWELL TOUR. New Zealand is having a final opportunity of hearing the new Australian star soprano, Miss Ethel Osborn, in a series of concerts prior to her departure for Europe Miss Osborn returns to us under particularly favourable circumstances. During the past year her voice has developed remarkably, so much so, indeed, that Dame Nellie Melba said “It is the most wonderful voice that I have heard for years” and. at once interested herself in sending Missjpsborn for operatic experience. Miss Osborn will be heard in a very greatly extended repertoire of new arias, songs, etc., also in several old favourites including the bird-songs in which she excels. Her last concerts in Brisbane, Sydney and elsewhere have proved veritable triumphs, many being unable to obtain admission. Still retaining its wonderful range the voice has rounded and broadened. Thoroughly enjoyable programmes are promised as Miss Osborn will have the support of a specially selected company of Sydney artists. The bpx plan for the Masterton concert is at the Arts and Crafts.
