A SYDNEY CRIME.
MOTHER AND DAUGHTER SHOT. EARLY MORNING HORROR. SYDNEY, Mar. 12.—Two shots, followed by a loud scream, were heard in a 'house at Redfern at 2.30 this morning, and two men were seen leaving. Police found two women, Mary Smith and Alice Quirk, mother and daughter, lying in bed with bullet wounds, in their heads. A bolster was pressed on the face of Mrs Smith who was semi-conscious. Beth were sent to the hospital, and are not expected to live. The police found a girl about four years of age in an adjoining room, and a boy of 10, who had clambered on to the roof. Both were-in a state of terror.—(P.A.)
