SPECIAL INVESTMENT OF ESTATE FUNDS. WHEN the Public Trustee is direct- ’’ ed by a will or trust instrument to invest the moneys of any estate or trust outside the Common Fund, he takes every care to secure the best available safe investment. Although the State guarantee doos not apply to such investments, the Public Trustee exercises all the care that a private trustee would exercise, and is liable for loss to the same extent as a private trustee. UntiLa suitable investment is found, a Common Fund mortgage is allocated from the Ist of the month following the receipt of the funds and the interest therefrom is credited to the estate. MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE JS HEREBY GIVEN that in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by "The Counties Act, 1920,” “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1913,” “The Main Highways Act, 1922,” and “The Finance Act, 1924,” and of' all and any other powers enabling it, the Masterton County Council proposes to raise a Special Loan of Twenty Thousand Pounds (£20,000) for the following purposes, that is to say-:— 1. To provide the Council’s contribution under "The Main Highways Act, 1922,” towards the construction or reconstruction of the . Main Highways in the County of Masterton.' 2. To provide the necessary plant and machinery for carrying out the said works. The sum proposed to bo borrowed for each purpose is:— 1. For Main Highways construction and reconstruction £16,000 2. For Plant and Machinery .. £4,000 £20,000 As security for the repayment of the loan and the interest thereon by equal half-yearly payments extending over a period not exceedingly thirty-six and one-half years it is proposed to make and levy an annual reerurring rate Of One-twelfth of a Penny in the Pound upon the capital value of all rateable property in the County of Masterton. MASTEBTON COUNTY COUNCIL. BRIDGE RATE. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is the intention of the Masterton County Council to make and levy underrthe provisions of Section 23 of "The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1913,” a Special Rate over the whole of the County of Masterton, to bo called a Bridge Rate, not to exceed in any one year the amount of One Farthing in the Pound on the capital value of all rateable property in the County of Masterton, for the purpose of providing funds for the reconstruction of bridges on roads under the jurisdiction of the Masterton County Council. 1. The purpose for which the Special Rate is required:—For providipg funds for the reconstruction of bridges exceeding 20 feet in span on roads under the jurisdiction of the Masterton County Council. 2. The said Special Rate is to be called "The Masterton County Council Bridge Rate.” 3. Such Bridge Rate to be the security for loans raised for the purpose of reconstruction of bridges exceeding 20 feet in span on roads under the jurisdiction of the Masterton County Council and to be used for the purpose of paying the interest and other charges on loans raised for the above purpose. 4. The cost of raising loans for the purposes above stated and the first year’s interest and sinking fund to be paid out of the moneys borrowed. , A Poll of the Ratepayers of the County of Masterton on the above proposal will be taken in due course, and notice of the time and place of such poll will be duly given.
