FAT LAMBS AND CATTLE , FIRMER. CHRISTCHURCH, Dee. 17.—There were large entries in practically all sections. Fat lambs and fat cattle showed a decided firming, but other classes were unaltered in value. Store sheep.—A fair sized yarding with a brisk demand, particularly for lambs. Good rape lambs 30/ to 32/5, smaller 27/3 to 28/6, s. and f.m. woolly ewes and lambs 32/5 to 33/2, aged xbd do. 27/9, inferior aged shorn do. 22/1 to 24/4, 2th xbd ewes 32/9 to 37/, fwd 2th wethers 34/3, good do. Jbd 32/ to 32/6, small and inferior do. 26/ to 27/, 4 and oth xbd wethers to 33/10, 4 and 6th Jbd do. 30/1 to 34/6, lower condition 4, 6 and Bth do. 28/2 to 28/9. Fat lambs.—A heavy pre-holiday yarding of over 5000 head, and an advance in values, a good proportion selling at fully 13Jd per lb for export. Butchers paid to near 14d for light lambs. Extra prime lambs 47/ to 49/, a special line to 51/, prime 43/ to 46/6, medium 39/6 to 42/6, light 33/ to 39/. Fat sheep.—An exceptionally heavy entry of over 13 races, 50 per cent more than the recent average. An irregular' market, but generally up to last week’s rates. Exporters operated to a limited extent. Extra prime wethers 52/1, prime 45/ to 48/, medium 40/ to 44/, light 34/6 to 39/6, rough 31/6 to 34/, extra prime ewes to 46/9, prime 40/ to 42/6, medium 34/6 to 39/, light and inferior 31/ to 34/. Fat cattle.—Another heavy yarding of 545 head. The market was better in the earlier stages by 30/ a head, but slipped back over the final part. Extra prime-beef to 45/, prime 40/ to 43/, prime heavy-weights 37/ to 39/6, medium 34/ to 37/6, light 30/ to 33/1, rough down to 25. Extra prime steers £l9 to £2O/7/6, prime £l6/15 to £lB/10, medium £l3/5 to £l6, light £ll to, £l3, rough £9/10 to £lO/10, extra prime heifers to £l6/2/6, prime £lO/5 to £l3, ordinary £7/5 to £lO, light £4/10 to £6/10, extra prime eows to £l3/13/6, prime £9/10 to £l2/10, medium £7 to £9/15, aged £6. Vealers.—A small yarding and an advance in price. Runners to £7/15, good vealers £3/10 to £6. Store cattle.—Mostly heifers were entered, with a fairly good demand. Syr heifers £4 to £4/5, 4yr steers to £B/5, ylg steers and heifers 25/ to 40/.

Dairy cattle.—A slight improvement on recent sales. Best 2nd, 3rd 4th Salvers spg £6 to £B/10, medium £3/10 to £5/15, spg heifers £2 to £5/5. Fat pigs.—A small entry and a Armor market.
