METEOROLOGICAL.
Present indications are for strong westerly to southerly winds northward of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, and south-easterlies strong to gale elsewhere; -weather cold and unsettled, with rain, generally, and heavy rain with rivers rising about Cook Strait and in tho north-east coast districts of the South Island; barometer rising in the north and elsewhere soon. Masterton.—Mr R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph 29.67. Shade temperature, maximum 82.4, minimum 54.6, terrestrial 40.8, rain trace, bright sunshine llhrs smin.
