MANY CLOSE CONTESTS.
What modern methods of instruction in swimming can do was amply demonstrated at the Masterton West School swimming carnival, held at the school baths yesterday. All of the races were closely contested, the girls, in many cases, holding their own with the boys. The honorary instructor, Mr V. Dooling, Miss Ball and Mr W. C. L. Baskiville are to be congratulated on the success of the carnival. The entries were very numerous; in the relay race 52 children took part. Championships. Boys’ senior.—Jeff. Bundle 15 pts 1, E.
