GATHERING AT LANGDALE. GIFTS FOR ORPHANS. _A. very enjoyable afternoon was ~ - /in the Langdale Hall on Thursday, when settlers from all over the district assembled to meet Miss Parlane, a matron of St. Mary’s Home, J&trofWVT el lington. soimr time residents of the district have been filling Christmas stockings for » r h f the 96 inmates of flic home, and the end presented a very festive appear with-all the well-filled st ;ekings arranged on a long table. Aftcinc -’i tea provided by members of tTW? Tinui and Whareama Guilds. Miss Parlane gave a very interesting ad/i son the work of the Home. Much interest was shown in •he samples of beautiful needlework done by the girls. Miss Parlane was the guest of Mrs H. H. ,8. Ryder during her short visit.
