WHY NATIVES WERE FLOGGED THE LIBEL ACTION. London, May 7.—Sir M. O ’Dwyer, in the libel case, gave evjcrcnco that 258 natives were flogged in connection with the disturbance at Amritsar. The men were tied to a frame ana wnippea with a bamboo or cane, which was mild compared to the cat. Sometimes they asked to be caned instead of fined.
