SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. (Our Travelling Reporter.) Caretaker. Mr E. Kilminster, of East Taratahi, has been appointed racecourse caretaker to the Carterton Racing Club, in succession to Mr J. McGlashen. Tor Auckland. Mr E. McKenzie, of Caiteiton, one of the “All Black” selectors, left yesterday for Auckland. Commission's Finding. The Commission that sat at Greytown some time back to consider a petition lodged by the Ahiakouka River Board, and to which the Waiohine River Board objected, has given its finding in favour of the petitioners. Each body is to pay its own costs. * Queen Carnival. The Sports’ candidate (Miss Florrie Booth; yesterday jumped from bottom to top position in the Carterton Queen Carnival movement. The candidates arc all close together, the Citizen’s being second, Western Farmer’s third, Eastern Farmer’s fourth and Schools fifth. A Paddy’s Market is to be held in the Gymnasium Hall, Halloway street, on Saturday night, when the final announcement will be made. The Sports committee are holding a shop day to-day, with pictures tonight. A dance is also to be held at Belvedere by the western farmers. Keeping Up. The milk supply at the Greytown cheese factory is 200 gallons more than at this period last season. Abnormal Season. As showing the abnormal season that is being experienced mushrooms were being freely gathered in some paddocks yesterday. Danger Signs. The Wairarapa Automobile Association has decided to erect two danger sign posts near the entrance to the Kopuaranga railway station. The Association has decided to ask the Featherston County Council to erect a post and rail fence for 12ft on McGarry’s corner, at Morison’s Bush. Education Board. / It is quite on the cards that South Wairarapa schools, which have been unrepresented on the Education Board since the retirement of Sir Walter Buchanan, will nominate a candidate for the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Grundy.
