THE JERSEY.

ADDRESS TO BREEDERS. AT CARTERTON. Mr H. E. B. Watson, of Christchurch, official Jersey demonstrator of New Zealand addressed an interesting meeting of dairymen in Carterton yesterday afternoon. Mr W. Henry Booth, of “Middle Run,’’ in introducing Mr Watsolti, made reference to his record as a breeder and judge, and the necessity of improving present-day methods to enable foreign competition on the Home markets to be met successfully.

Cattle for the demonstration -were supplied by Messrs J. Standen and W. Hall. Before starting on the animals, Mr Watson gave advice to breeders in regard to selling animals which could only be a source of loss to the purchasers and a bad advertisement for the Jersey.

A very interesting address was given and it is a pity that other engagements prevent Mr Watson from making a longer stay in the district, as every breeder and dairyman would benefit by the lectures.
