RACING STEWARDS.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Masterton Racing Club stewards met yesterday, there being present Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), J. lorns, A. J. Welch, C. J. Bennett, F. Dorset, W. D. Watson, R. McKenzie, J. B. Thomson, O. Percy, D. B. Carrick, and D. McLachlan. Apologies from Messrs D r K. Logan, W. Cooper and H. Douglas. The Olympic Council wrote for donation towards sending athletes to Olympia.—Received, no funds being available. It was decided to rculy to the Woodville J.C., in reference to the letter read at last meeting asking for change of dates, that the Club could see no reason why it should change the date of its meeting. The N.Z. Racing Conference forwarded a circular stating that the stipendiary stewards’ committee’advised that members of a club’s judicial committee should be easily available after each race in the event of an enquiry; that the N.Z. Hunts’ Association desired that the words “hack and hunters ’ ’ should not be combined in the title of any race.—Received. The Conference also wrote advising that the “revocation clause” should be printed on the face of the admission ticket and that the system of collecting tickets at the gate* should be altered so that they be snipped and retained.—Received. Conference advised that its annual meeting would be on July 10. The N.Z. Sports’ Protection League urged that a united effort be made to have the matters of taxation, railway charges and increased permits favourably considered at next session of Parbament, and that delegates te appointed to act on a deputation tt. the Government early in June. —Messrs C. The financial statement showed a dr. balance of £1390 3s 4d. Accounts totalling £Bl 7s lid were passed. Fees and subscriptions outstanding totalled £35 18s.
