ELDERLY WOMAN’S DEATH.
WELL-KNGWN SYRIAN.
INQUEST AT MASTERTON.
At an early hour yesterday morning the death occurred at 234 Queen street of Farida Habib, wife of Amen Habib, fancy goods .shopkeeper. An inquest was held before Mr E. G. Eton, district coroner, yesterday afternoon. Evidence was givon that deceased was 52 years of age and a native of Syria. She had resided in Masterton for 16 years. M
Amen Habib gave evidence in regard to his wife’s health, aud said that they had lived happily together. He found his wife dead in bed at 5.30 a.m. yesterday. The son, Joseph Amen Habib, travelling salesman, gave corroborative evidence. He enquired on Sunday from his father as to deceased’s state of health, and his father said she was in her usual state of health. Dr. J. A. Cowie said that he had linown deceased for 12 years. She was mentally affected. Her death was due to natural causes and was accelerate by general debility.
The verdict was in accordance with the doctor’s testimony.
