Christchurch, May 16. —There was a large (yarding of fat cattle and sheep. Beef was Is to Is 6d per 100 cheaper, and lighter mutton was also easier by about Is 6d per head, good wethers soiling up to late rates. Store Sheep. A good yarding for this time of the year, including a well-sized line of wethers from Otago. Wethers improved by Is 6d per head on last sale, and ewes by up to 2s Lambs were also better. Forward 4,6, and 8-tootli wethers 24s 6d to 265; 4,6, and 8-tooth, 22s to 245; inferior and low conditioned, 4,6, and 8-tooth 19s to 19s 65; good 2; 4,6, and 8-tooth ewes 30s to 33s 6d, good crossbred 4,6, and 8-tooth 29s to 30s; failing mouthed 20s to 235, cull 14s to 16s 3fl, f-ibred ewe hoggets 22s id to 235, good |-bd wethers 19s to 19s 6d, good |-bd wethers 19s lid, ordinary wethers 15s to 17s 6d, small in- ' ferior wethers 12s 3d to 13s 6d. 1 Fat Lambs.—Entry 1700. Little change from last week; over-all price 9d per lb. Extra prime lambs 30s, fair special 395, prime 27s 6d to 29s 9d> medium 24s 6d to 275, light and unfinished 19s to 235. Fat Sheep.—A big yarding. Good sheep about maintained values, but inferior, particularly ewes, slipped back Is to Is 6d. Extra prime wethers 34s to 375, a few special 40s, prime 30s 6d to 33s 6d, medium 27s 6d to 30s, inferior 25s 6d to 27s 3d, extra prime ewes 33s 6d, prime 25s to 295, medium 21s to 245, light 18s to 20s 6d, old 13s 6d to 17s 6d»

Fat Cattle.—A big yarding of 430 head; prices Is 6d per 100 easier. Primest to 28s per 100, good 23s 6d to 265, medium 21s to 22s 6d, inferior 17s 6d down to 10s, extra prime steers £l4, prime £9 to £l2 10s, medium £6 15s to £8 15s, light £4 10s to £6 10s, extra prime heifers £9 15s, prime £5 10s to £8 ss, ordinary £4 5s to £5 ss, extra prime cows £8 10s, prime £4 10s to £6 15s, ordinary £3 5s to £4 ss.

Vealers. —Anything good sold at late rates. Good runners to £5, ordinary heavy vealers £3 5s to £4 6s, medium £1 2s 6d to £2- ss, small calves 3s to 18s. Store Cattle. —Entry included some station lines of steers and heifers; 3-year steers £5 3 S 6d to £5 7s 6d, 2|-year steers £3 10s, IS months £2 6s, 18 months heifers £2. Dairy Cattle.—Good springers, especially those close to calving, sold well. Good 2nd, 3rd, and 4th culvers springing £8 to £l2, extra good £l5, springing he-ifers £6 to £9, extra good £l6, backward springers £2 to £4. Fat Pigs.—A little better demand, and improved prices.
