CHICAGO PACKERS’ STRIKE.

ASSUMING SERIOUS ASPECT. Chicago, Dec. 8. —The strike of workers in the- meat-packing plants, who refused to agree to a reduction in wages, assumed a serious aspect when a large mob of men, women, and children riotea. Police and many other persons were injured. The strike, which union officials estimate affects 20,000 workers throughout the country, notably in Chicago and Kansas City, is being attended by serious disturbances in the latter cities. The Governor of Kansas threatened to call out the military. The strikers attacked an elevated train, injuring 40 people, half of whom are dangerously, hurt. The known casualties in last night's rioting are one dead, two dying, nine dangerously wounded, and 50 injured.
