In the first heat of the amateur billiard championship. Hooper, of Australia, scored 500 to his opponent's (Christie) 130 in the. first, stage of the game, nnd increased his score to 1001 to Christie's 173. In the second stage he made breaks of 86, BS, 70, and 78.
