SALE OF PETROL.
ALLEGED PROFITEERING. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. In jeply to a question by Mr T. M. Wilford in the House of Representatives to-day, the Prime Minister said he would be glad to pass on to the Board of Trade an inquiry as to whether profiteering is going on in connection with the sale of petrol in the Dominion. Our trouble was, he said, that we had not been able to get adequate supplies to build up a reserve. He was not unfavourable to the Government bringing from Anierica a cargo of petrol, if it was possible to do so, but up to the present the Government had confined its efforts to encouraging private importation.
