MAURICEVILLE DAIRY CO
MONTHLY MEETfetO. The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville Dairy Company was held in the Foresters' Hall, Mauricevills West, on Monday, December 15th, at 12 noon. Present:—Messrs V. K. Lemberg (chairman), Lars Nielsen, P. Mortensen, W. J. Hope, A. Thorby, W. Seymour, S. Hall, A. Forsberg. The manager was also in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman, in opening the meeting, said he wished, feelingly, to refer to the loss the Company and district had sustained in the passing away of their old and faithful servant, Mr Lars Mattson. Mr Mattson had been secretary of the Company for over 25 years, and had always been a diligent and faithful servant in the execution of his duties. He, the speaker, was sure Mr Mattson would be missed for many years to come, not only by the Company, but by the older people of the district, who had always confidence and placed implicit trust in him. Mr Lemberg then moved that the Company place on record their highest appreciation of Mr Mattson's services for the Company and that a letter of sympathy be sent to the deceased widow and family in the great loss they had sustained. This was seconded by Mr W. Seymour and carried, all present standing. It was unanimously decided to send a delegate to Palmerston North on January 7th, 1920, to confer with ! other butter factory delegates re the disposal of next season's produce. The following motion was moved by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Forsberg, and carried,, "That this Company strongly protests against any future cominandeeriny of our produce by the Government, being of the opinion that it was not in the interests of the industry, the delegate to> declare for an open market." The selection of a delegate was held over, the committee to deal with I the same.
The following were appointed a committee to deal with any urgent business between the monthly meetings, any three to form a quorum:— Messrs Lernberg, Mortensen, Nielsen, Hoe, nnd Forscerg. Mr Forsberg was appointed to interview the manager of the butter box factory, Pathiaua, re a sample of ; their butter boxes, and if satisfactory | to order a trial 400. Mr E. Mattson was appointed acting secretary to the Company. A bonus of £5 was passed to Mr W. Bray for the past season's work. Mr Hope, who has recently disposed of his farm, begged to tender his resignation as a director of the Company. The Chairman said .they were sorry ta lose settlers, particularly a supplier. Mr Hope had been a good director during his short term of office, and was highly thought of in the district, and it was with regret they had to accept his resignation, but he wished Mr and Mrs Hope and family, health, wealth and prosperity in their future home. —Carried unanimously. A very noticeable feature at the Mauriceville dairy factory is the lowness of the average test this season. It is fully .2 less than the month of November, 1918. The Company anticipated a largely increased supply in the early part of this season and installed another cream vat.
