FARMING NOTES

The hay crops at present being harvested in the Wairarapa are not nearly 0 heavy as in previous years. The advance for butter fat for the month of December for the Mauricerille Dairy Company was fixed at i9d per lb. 1 Nine pounds per acre is being ft'erccl in the Carterton district for itanding crops of oats. This indi ;ates that the retail price of oats and ihaff will be high during the coming jcason. An effort is being made by a number of farmers and others interested in the dairying industry to establish a co-operative cheese and butter factory for tho Clive, Clive Grange, and Mangateretere districts. Judging by tho price that is being offered farmers in the South Wairarapa for their hay, tho price of this fodder is likely to be high this seasoit. Offers of £7 per ton for pressed hay in the paddock arc being made. Tho amount paid out for butter-fat for the month of November/by the Mauricevillo Dairy Company was £I3GO 16s sd. The two largest milk cheques were £157 3s Id and the two largest cream cheques £135 5s 9d. The amount of butter made was 21,3311b, being a decrease of 7,1821b for the same period last year. For November, the casein clfeeso was 108 at the main factory and 57 at Hastwell. The average milk test was 3.7, and the average cream test 42.0.
