A FATAL FALL

AUCKLAND, Last Night. A fatality occurred on the Ponsonby Beach to-duy, resulting in tho death of James Edwards, a married man, aged about 36 years, who was in the Hamoan Relief Force. Edwards jumped from a rock when having a bathe, and nover rose to tho surfaco. His littlo children noticed that ho did not rise to tho surface, but were too young to realise the position. On their return home they told their mother, who at onpo gave tho alarm. Edwards' body was found faeo downward beside tho rock, in about four feet; of water, with a bruise on tho forehead. It is not known whether death was duo to drowning or heart failure.
