THE GERMAN REPLY
To Allied Terms. J POSITION OF AUSTRIA. ■ ; (By Sleotrio Telegraph.-—Copyright.) (Australian-N.Z. Cable Association.) Received Yesterday, 12.25 o'clock. PARIS, Dec. 16. The Supreme Council is generally satisfied with the terms of Germany's reply. It is considered that Herr Renner'a statement regarding Austria's food situation made it clear that the country can only be rescued from tho peril of starvation if America helps. The Council decided, among other measures, to dispatch 30,000 tons of cereals stored at Trieste to Austria. It is estimated that Austria needs ft loan of £327,000,000 to enable tho nation to restart work on a proper basis.
