There passed away at Temuka on known resident and business man. in the person of Mr. W. C. Roulston, who had been in very poor health during the past two years. The lata Mr. Roulston was born in 1856 in County Donegal, Ireland, and' came to New Zealand in 1874.

Mr. Harry Hill, who was educated at Halcombe public school, and wh& later entered journalism at Palmersfcon North and Feilding. has been appointed advertising manager of the Melbourne Herald, at a salary of £6OO a year.

Mr. S. Moynagh, lately of Wellington, has taken over the managership of the office of Messrs Hart and Hogg, solicitors. Masterton. Formerly he was iff partnership with his father, Mr. M. C. Moynagh, LL.D., Crown Solicitor in County Louth, Ireland.

At the Featherston Horticultural Show, Miss Blatchford, of Lans. downe, waß awarded five first prize* and one second for roses. She also gamed three special prizes for the following exhibits: "Betty" bloom, best tea rose, and best rose in tir& ! ahow, and "Frau Karl Dusche," best perpetual rose. At the s Greytown Horticultural Show last week Miss Blatchford again did well, gaining: three first prizes and • being awarded! the prize for the best rose in the show, with a "Dean Hole" bloom. Mr. W. C. Symes died' on Friday i'ast at a private hospital in Auckland at the age of 74 years. He left Taranaki some years ago to,reside in; Auckland. Born at. Bridgewater,, Somersetshire, in 1845, he came out with his father and family to Wellington in 1857 in the ship "Ana ' Wilson," and went on to New Plymouth. In 1861 Mr. Symes was sent to Nelson to school. In 1864 thev family moved tp Wanganui, and about 1873 to the Patea district. Thesubject of this notice acquired some 1500 acres of land at Manutahi,, and he farmed for many years, acquiring, a reputation as a breeder of Shorthorns and Lincolns. He took a full share in public life, and was one, of the most popular and respected dents m the district. He"/ was a keen sportsman, and took an active part ia the affairs of the Egmonfr Racing Club, Patea Jookey Club, and the Hawera Hunt Club. In 1886 he married a daughter of the late.Mr. Peter Hume, of Wairarapa, who but* vives him.

A pretty wedding was solemnised: at the residence of the bride's par* ents, Carterton, on Wednesday last, when Olive Martha, eldest daughter of Mr. and BJrs' S. Kay, was mar. ried to John, third son of Mr. W. Corlett. of Parkvale. The bride* who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in crepe de chine, trimmed with a. silk fringe and tassels, and wore a Silk Egyptian veil (a gift from the bride's brother while on active service) and 'orange blossoms. She also carried a bouquet , of narcissi, lilies, and maidenhair fern. Miss Dorothy Edlin, cousin of the bridegroom, was chief bridesmaid and was dressed in a frock of silk, fringed, with black hat lightened with pink. She carried a bouquet of narcissi and maidenhair fern. The chief bridesmaid was supported by the Misses Laura and Malva Kay. sisters of the bride, who wore white silk dresses with hats to match, and carried horse shoes trimmed with rib* bon and flowers. Mr. W. J. Kay, brother of the bride, was best man, and Mr. P. Henneker, of Wellington (cousin of the bride) was groomsman. The Rev, J. Ward was th® officiating minister.
