CARTERTON SALE. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association. Ltd., Stock Department, report having held their weekly sale in the Carterton yards on .Friday, the 14th inst., when they submitted approximately 850 sheep and about 200 head of cattle, also a large entry of pigs and sundries, etc., to a large attendance. Sheep were in keen demand, a total clearance being made before the end of the day. Grown cattle were at par with last week's rates, the competition was very dull on all young stock, and pigs were easier. Quotations are as under: —Sheep: Woolly tat 4-tooth wethers £2 7s, b.f. fat 2-tooths 345, 2-tooth wethers 29s 3d to 37s 2d, 2*tooth wethers shorn (STnall) 16s, 18s to 21s, 4, 6 and 2 Coo-'i wethers shorn 28s Id. SPECIAL CATTLE SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson anc 7 Co.. Ltd., report having held their annual cattle fair at Masterton yesterdav, when they offered a heavy yarding, consisting mainly of well bred station lines. The large entry of over 2300 head severely taxed the accommodation of the Colombo road yards, and Messrs A. J. Cooper and Co. generously" offered the use of their adjoining yards for the overflow. Owing to the widespread shortage of feed, the"usual outside competition was very little" m evidence, and prices ruled in accordance. Vendors, however, in most cases met the market, with the result that the greater proportion of the yarding was sold.
