OBITUARY

. MRS. WILLIAM ADAMS. There passed away at the residence of her son-ki-l&w (Mr A. Granford, Albert street, Masterton) yesterday one of the pioneer settlers of Masterton, in the person of Mrs: William Adams, in her 78th. year. The deceased, who born in Warwickshire, England, arrived with her parents in Wellington in 1844, when about five years of age. She came through, to Masterton in 1854, and has thus resided here continuously for 64 years. Her father was the late Mr Michael Dixon', who; with Mr David Dixon, of Bannister street, and the late Mr John Cole, were the first families to form the township of Masterton. In x 1864 the deceased teamed Mr William) Adams (who pre'deceased her by twelve years), of the Imperial Army, and they resided until recent years on a farm on the Opaki road. The late Mrs Adams waß of a generous and kindly disposition and did much to assist struggling families in the early days.
