SEEDY WOOL
DEPUTATION TO PRIME MINISTER. A SATISFACTORY REPLY. Tho question of seed in wool and the consequent reduction in price offered for such wool by tho Government valuers has been agitating the minds of small farmers throughout the Dominion for some time past. A deputation from the Wairarapa, consisting of Messrs Hugh Morrison, A. McDonald, C. C. Jackson, and tho secretary of the Wairarapa branch of the Farmers' Union waited upon the Prime Minister on Tuesday and urged that freezing and l'elltnongery works be allowed to treat farmers' seedy and inferior wool and that the Government assist the various companies in the importation of yonllinising machinery. The Prime Minister sympathised with the deputation, and said he saw no reason why the demands should not be complied with. He thought that satisfactory arrangements could be made for the re-opening of the fellmongery works so that they could clean the wool on behalf of farmers. He held out special hopes for this privilege so far as the Waingawa works were concerned, where practically all the necessary machinery was available. Mr Massey further stated that ho would again instruct the Government valuers to value on a 55 per cent Increase on pre-war prices for nil wool The result of the deputation's visit should be viewed with satisfaction by all farmers.
