IMPERIAL WAR CABINET.

The announcement that the Prime Minister and Sir Joseph Ward areleaving for London at the end of April to attend an important meeting of th e Imperial War Cabinet, will mot come as a surprise. A crisis in the war will be reached .in the next few months, and the conference in June will require to deal with the most momentous issues in 'the history of the Empire. These issues will ■probably embrace the, retention, or otherwise of occupied enemy territory in the Pacific, and commercial relations with enemy countries at the termination of the war, both of which, have a vital bearing upon the future ; of the Dominion. Tn all the circumstances, it would seem to be imperative that the two responsible. Ministers should bp prcsetnt at the epochmaking conference at the seat of Empire. A short session of Parliament will be held in April, when a Pill will probably be .brought down to further extend the life of Parliament. This Bill should make provision for the holding of an election within six menths of the declaration of peace. The people would then have an opportunity of giving expression to their views without sentimental restraint, and with a better knowledge of the achievements and blunders of the Administration than would otlierwi.se ho possible.
