AN OFFICIAL REPLY
(Renter's Telegrams.) (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LONDON, February 2. The Press Bureau .says that an official reply to Mr Henderson controverts the claim that the Government lias admitted the engineers' claim to a separate treatment. The statement concludes: "It is accessary to realise that this .is not a difference between the Government and one or moi'e Unions > but between the "Unions themselves. It is well-known thai other Unions previously resented the Government's meeting tho Amalgamated Engineers separately. The Government mow agrees to meet- the. Amalgamated Engineers separately if the other Unions agree. No question of procedure must obscure the man-power issue, fn order to maintain tho armies inthe field, fit men must ho withdrawn. Tho delation of 111 unit ion workers alone is insufficient to provide the necessary numbers."
