BOWLING
(By * 'Wrong Bias.') A rink consisting of Thurston, Dickens, Ewington, Staples (s.) journeyed to Carterton yesterday afternoon in an deavour to wrench the champion xink meduls from Fink, Hughes, Hall, Lindop («.)» but were unsuccessful >n their effort. In a match for the Beale medals yesterday afternoon the challengers, Hyde, Turner,, Holm wood, Thirtle (s"), of the Masterton Jlub, were / defeated by five points oy the holders, Southgate, Johnston, ,Duncan, . ■iMint (is.). The icJiaVengerß put up a very good fight, and were only beaten on the last two heads. The Masterton Club intended sending two rinks to Carterton to play a friendly match. The players were in readiness at the appointed hour, but it was found impossible to procure a means of conveyance owing to the whole, of the taxi-cars being engaged for ' the Pahiatua races. The local placers were extremely disappointed, and they trujst that their Carterton friends were not put about owing to the engagement not being fulfilled.
