The record was 23 deg. below % zero at Ottawa and 32 at Lincolnshire. MANY FROZEN TO DEATH. Received January 1, 9.30 a.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 31. Intense cold continues in New York. Many persons have been frozen to ;.death, .and i hundreds have ' been maimed by" frostbites.
