News has been received in Mastcrton that Captain Oscar Gallic was killed in action on December Bth. The deceased left New Zealand for Samoa early in the war. Later on, he departed for France, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. It was only recently that he was awarded the Military Cross. His brother was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal
