BUCHAREST.
The report which came to hand yesterday from' an American source, to the effect that Bucharest had fallen, would appear to have been somewhat premature. Advices received last evening stated that the Germans had crossed' the river Argesu, and wore advancing towards Bucharest. From present appearances, there 'Joes not appear to be much hope of saving the capital. The Rumanians would, probably retreat further east■rather than take the risk of the city being 'invested. The worst feature of the business'is that the enemy may secure considerable booty, and the task of re-taking the city would be attended with the greatest difficulty. However, both the Rumanians and Russians are fighting with magnificent gallantry, and the gains of the enemy can only bo regarded as temporary.
