TIPS.
The Arbitration Court has awarded the stewards on tlie Union Company vessels an increase in pay, on the express stipulation that they will discontinue the practise of soliciting "tips" from passengers. The acceptance of a "tip" will be regarded as a breach of award. The travelling public will appreciate the change. But, supposing that the Union Company increases-the fares all round, to make up for the increase in the pay of stewards! What then? Will the travelling public regard the award with the same satisfaction?
