AMUSEMENTS.

THOMPSON PAYNE PICTURES. The popular T.L\ Electric Ciuem was packed to overflowing with a most enthusiastic audience on Saturday evening. Two big specials were shown, including the Aquila Company's 5000 ft melodrama entitled "The Mystery of St. Martin's Bridge." This was a brilliant play produced in this company's superb style, and cailled for considerable applause. Tllie Keystone 'Company were again well represented with the "Plumber," Like all of the same brand it was brim fail of ridiculous, though extremely funny situations It was not difficult to imagine that when a Keystone plumber got to work there would be plenty of burst waer pipes flying about. A remarkably clever detective story was one in which the already famous Sexton Blake, took the. leading part. It was entitled "TJhe Mystery of the Diamond Belt." Blake with his bloodhound tracked a gang of international society thieves through London and eventually ran them to earth. Some fine street scenes in London were shown in this film and were woll worth seeing. There were plenty of pictures of Tommy Atkins in real fighting and in training. "With a Skirmishing Party in Flanders" was a capital military picture and gave a splendid insight into the methods employed by the infantry. "Path'e Gazette" was also full of war notes. It is not often that such a programme as this is presented: and patrons should take tlie opportunity of seeing it before it is packed up and cent away. 'lt will be shown to-night and to-morrow evening. PEOPLE'S POPULAR PICTURES. Splendid houses marked each, session on Saturday, and great >atisfaction was expressed with regard to the programme provided. There will be no further screening of this selection of pictures on account of other engagements of the Town Hall, but Wednesday's programme will be a particularly attractive one, having in addition to the 9th chapter of the current serial, a star Kevstono entitled ' "His Prehistoric Past."
