AN AMERICAN MILLIONAIRE SHOT.

Pierpont Morgan, junr., at his home at Long Island. The assailant arrived at Mr Morgan's house m a motor-car and asked the butler, at the point of a pistol, to show him Morgan. The butler called for help, snd Morgan entered the hall, whereupon Holt fired, wounding Morgan twice, in the hip and the side. , The butler seized a coal-scuttle, felled Holt, and captured him. Mr Morgan 7 s telephonic reassurances to his New York friends prevented adverse movements of the Stock Exchange. Holt confessed that he was of German nationality, and said lie was anxious to kill Morgan, because the la iter's firm was exporting war munitions to enable enemies to kill the Germans.
