THE HAWKE'S BAY SEAT.
The Magistrate has placed a very I strict* interpretation upon the Electoral Act in the re-count for tho "Hawke's Bay seat, and has declared votes informal .where the intention of the voter seems to have been clearly expressed. The result of the re-count is that Dr. MeNah's majority .has been substantially increased. The position is one which Dr. McNab will not himself appreciate. Ho is somewhat similarly situated to Mr. Statham, in the Dunedin Central electorate. It would be satisfactory to each party if both Dr. McNab and Mr. Statham were to resign, and to seek re-elec-tion. By this means the position would be more clearly defined, and the will of tho people might be given effect to.
