MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. T!ie usual monthly meeting of the Council was held 011 Saturday, the 2Dth Atigust. There were present:—GVs. J. E. Perry, ("chairman), Robt. Jud'cl. C. Seymour, J. P. Larsen, C. Churchill-Jackson, H. J. Dagg. The valuer-general forwarded new naluation rolls, with the adjustments made by the assessment Court. The Secretary for Agriculture gave notice that "Spfderwort" has been added to the 3rd .schedule of The Noxious Weeds Act. The Under-Secretary for Internal Aif airs forwarded a copy of the War Contributions Validation Act, 1914. The Public Works Department notified approval of plans and specifications for metalling Dagg's Road, and Dryer's Rock Road, and authorised expenditure of grants for the same. P. C. Madsen wrote requesting the Council to remove a ismall house on the road reserve at Ha,stwell. The manager of the Lime Company works wrote complaining of injury to dray horse on road where a culvert was being replaced. The bridge 011 the Wangaehu Road at Perry's frontage is found to bo unsafe for heavy loads and instructions were given to affix a notice to that effect 011 the bridge until repairs can be effected. Mr A. J. Welch interviewed the .Counc'l about an exchange .of land for part'of a metal reserve at his frontage on Mount Bruce Road. As the tests whfch »havc been made indicate that t[ie exchange would place the Council in a better position for obtaining road metal, it was resolved to agree to Mr Welch's proposal, provided the consent of tjie Minister is.obtained. No action was taken with regard to Mr P. C. Madsen's request to remove house 011 road. The balance-sheet was adopted ami direction given to get it published. r The letter from the Lime Company's manager was held over for consideration at next meeting. On the motion of Cr. Dagg it was resolved to apply for a grant of £BSO (£ for £) to metal Dagg's Road. Accounts amounting to £2Ol 5s lOd were passeH for payment including £2o to the Wairarapa War Fund.
