WAR NEWS.

It is about time that the censorship of war news was relaxed so that tho public would not be placed in a position of false security, as they undoubtedly are in Britain and the overseas Dominions at the present time. Had the truth regarding the German progress been made known in England, as it should have been, there would have been no necessity for the Prime Minister to call upon the Lord Mayors and Provosts to assemble public meetings to awaken the public to a sense of the danger which lurks in the path of the Empire. We havo all rejoiced at the magnificent stand made by the Belgians, at the superb gallantry of the British forces, and at the minor victories achieved at sea. But in face of it all we are forced to a recognition of the fact that the Germans, reckless in their daring, quick in their transport, overwhelming in their numbers, have marched on and on, at an immense sacrifice of their own troops, sweeping all before them in their murderous expedition. No good purpose can be served by disguising what is an obvieus truth, and by painting only one side of-the picture. We are all hopeful of the ultimate result. We have confidence in the righteousness of our cause, and we are assured that the mighty legions of the Kaiser will bo decimated to such an extent that thfiy will be

powerless to withstand the pressuro of the Russians as they swoop down upon the east. But do not lot us imagine that we are winning all along the line, when the very reverse is the case.
