MR. T. M. WILFORD, M.P.
The visit to Masterton of Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., has excited a good deal of speculation locally. The fir.st question asked is, by whose invitation is the member for the Hutt invading this territory ? Is ho a member of the "flyino- squadron" sent out by Sir JoseplAVard, or is he being used by a section of the local Labourites to endeavour to heal the breach "between "Liberalism" and the Social Democrats? Mr. Wilford will doubtless see tho necessity for' explaining his position from tho platform. He may then find it convenient to tell us whether he really thinks it desirable that tho country should b© placed under the heel of tho Red Federation. Is it not as plain as a pikestaff that if a compact is made between the •'Liberals" and the Social Democracy and the unholy alliance should «uc.•eod in ousting the Reform Government, the revoktionaries would he in a i osition that they could demand whatever legislation they might thmk fitr Does Mr. Viflford thi-ik that a Government'dominated by extremists would be in the beat interests of the country? We leave it to himself to answer.
