NEGOTIATIONS FOR SETTLEMENT. THE LATEST PROPOSAL. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, March 1. Although 110 definite statements have been made, it is. understood that Mr Esteli's original proposal'of an increase of five shillings, and ». forty-nine and a-half hours week, has been submitted to the men for their acceptance. The masters are considering this as a :means of settlement, promise their decision to-morrow" morning. The men are prepared to continue the struggle if the masters do not agree to these terms.
