BRITISH ELECTIONS
The news contained in our cablegrams to-day that a Bill has passed its second reading in the House of Commons, providing that the whota of the elections" throughout the United Kingdom shall be held on the one day, is of more than ordinary inteiest. The British elections in the past have been held in groups, with an interval of several days between them. ThLs has naturally lent itself to a good deal of bargaining, and possible intrigue. At this distance there seems 110 good reason why the elections should not be held simultaneously. Whether the Bill now before Parliament will becoino law remains to be 'Seen. Its second reading y? an indication that the existing system i s not regarded as satisfactory.
